Opening Hands

Opening Hands

This is a picture I have put on my computer as my screen saver – I use this when I begin my time of prayer and meditation with God each day. It keeps my focus on opening my mind and heart to the Holy Spirit .Opening my hands helps me physically open myself to God’s direction and call .   It is so easy to lose our focus and get caught up in everyone’s “stuff”. As you make decision that will shape your destiny reflect on this scripture Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Be a Miracle Jerry...
Failure to Fame

Failure to Fame

Sunday evening  we saw Jordyn  Wieber   reigning world champion gymnast  lose the opportunity to compete for the women’s individual gold medal.  Her friend Aly Raisman who was Jordyn’ s best friend and biggest competitor  won a spot in the qualifying event to go to the finals. By placing higher than Jordyn in points she knocked out her friend’s possibility to go to the final.  When Jordyn found out she did not qualify she was devastated. We can only imagine how she felt. Training for years, hours each day with the image in her mind (motivating her) of standing on the podium receiving the gold medal and then not to even make it into the finals must have been emotionally crushing. Have you ever worked, trained, put hours of energy into something and then, see it fail. It would be easy to just give up and hide out. You have no desire to talk to anyone because you are so emotionally devastated. Jordyn Wieber was not given that luxury. She had to come back in front of everyone in the stadium and compete with her teammates Tuesday evening for the  women’s team event .She had to focus, letting the memory of failure on Sunday leave her mind and heart. How difficult that must have been for her. The wonderful part of this story is that these women joined together and won the Gold Medal for USA. They all contributed but give extra kudos to Jordyn for the ability to let go of her disappointments of Sunday and focus on the challenge at hand. Maybe there is something in this story for all of...
Tragedy,Killing….Where is God?

Tragedy,Killing….Where is God?

“Why did God let that killing in the movie theater happen?” I paused for a moment to collect my thoughts. I tried to decide what the young man was really asking? “Do you believe in free will? That God allows us to make choices for our own lives?” I asked. He shifted his feet back and forth as he spoke.”Well, yes, I mean I don’t think we are puppets but if God is all powerful why wouldn’t he stop such a terrible thing from happening.” I could tell he was getting frustrated as he moved his feet back and forth. “We have a narrow concept of power in our country.” I could tell he might not grasp this concept but I went on. “We think power is something we use to get our way. To dominate another person but there are many aspects of power that we do not even realize. I believe God created the universe with certain physical laws that set our world in motion. God is Spirit. In Spirit God can influence our spirit, if we open ourselves to Him. He will not use coercive power on us but it is the power of love that guides, influences, and restores our spirit.” The young man turned his head and looked off into sun. I could tell he was thinking about what I said. He turned his eyes back to me and then responded. “Well, then, where was God, when all this was happening?” I paused for a moment thinking of all the times I had asked that same question. “God was there, giving courage, strength, love,...

How do they know?

How do they know?

I have a friend Lois G who is very intuitive. She told me the other day my book Blurring The Lines was in Africa. I laughed, feeling a little embarrassed. I couldn’t imagine someone in Africa, reading my book. The book has hit the Top Ten of the Zehr Clan reading list but not the New York Bestsellers. I asked Lois if she was kidding and she turned her head like she was trying to see an image and then she responded -“yes it is in Africa!”  I smiled but inside I thought “there was no way it had made it to Africa, the book has only been out for two months.” Today I received this twitter                                  judy_croome Judy Croome Have   just bought an interesting spiritual book called “Blurring the   Lines” by @jerryzehr Jul 16, 11:24   PM via Twitter for   iPad She lives in Johannesburg Africa. Have you ever met anyone like this, who can intuit things  about yourself that you don’t even know? May we all be open to things beyond our understanding. Be a Miracle Jerry...
