“And the day came when the risk it took
to remain tight in the bud was more painful
than the risk it took to blossom”
– Anais Nin
The fact is, we usually grow only when the pain is too much to bear. The discomfort forces us to open ourselves to a new way of doing things. Last week I wrote about living in chaos as I am trying to get unpacked and settled into a new location. The discomfort of having to move all my “stuff” for the fifth time in my life has made me finally give away things I haven’t used in years. The good thing is, I now have room for some new things to come into my life.
To live Beyond Z, we have to be willing to let go of those teachings, habits, or relationships that have held us back from growing into who God wants us to be. I held a lot of beliefs about myself and others that had kept me “small.” I was afraid of risking, trying new things that would use my gifts. I was afraid people would judge my ideas and leadership and discount them and me . But that’s the risk we have to take, if we want to blossom?….Isn’t it? Who are we living this life for anyway?
In what way do you want to blossom today?
